  • ContextMetrics™ Implementation

ContextMetrics enables a firm to monitor its operational risk profile by analyzing the securities and cash transactions it exchanges with its counterparties.

ContextMetrics delivers comprehensive operational risk forecasts :

    • by line of business
    • for the whole enterprise
    • for every counterparty it transacts with
    • within and across business processes (eg, exchange-based vs OTC trading); and
    • viewed over time.

    Moreover, ContextMetrics

    • partitions operational risk into manageable components
    • recognizes correlated factors (eg, proprietary trading activity that supports trade facilitation for retail business)
    • incorporates semantic nuances from regulatory drivers and the counterparty's 'reputation' for operational effectiveness
    • delivers actionable outcomes (eg, statistical probability of fails by message type for each counterparty), and
    • can be programatically integrated with in-house reporting systems and with market, credit, and other operational risk management systems.

The key attributes of ContextMetrics are :

    • pre-emptive

    • Unlike typical benchmarks that look back into history, ContextMetrics forecasts the likelihood of transaction fails. In doing so, it enables firms to preclude the cost and effort of remediation.

    • domain-knowledge

    • It is industry-specific and workflow-aware. ContextMetrics recognizes the critical success factors for transaction mangement at various points in the trading cycle (from order initiation through to settlement), and across different messaging and data standards. We currently support trades, corporate actions, and payments, with an emphasis on cross-border activity.

    • turn-key installation

    • ContextMetrics can be deployed across an enterprise in one business day. A systems administrator can install the software-based "sensors" into the appropriate access points that the firm uses (eg, messaging gateways, middleware).

Firms with less intensive volumes can simply send periodic file transfers of transaction records to forward look, inc.'s secure servers. In effect, the "sensors" are hosted remotely at forward look, inc.'s data center.

    • enterprise operability

    • ContextMetrics co-exists harmoniously with other enterprise systems components such as message routers, firewalls and databases. The software-based "sensors" have a small footprint and consume minimal system resources. Every software component of ContextMetrics is readily accessible to inspection by the firm's systems administrators.

    • unattended operation

    • ContextMetrics "sensors" sample the inbound or outbound transaction streams, automatically performs the analysis, and compile the results in a fully automated fashion. There are no databases or log files that need to be monitored or maintained locally. The data is available to the client as a structured stream for on-line or off-line usage.

    • secure

    • ContextMetrics does not retain any raw transaction data. Analytic information transmitted between the client site and forward look, inc.'s servers uses strong encryption.

    • high-throughput

    • Transaction analysis is completed within sub-seconds and effectively supports the demands of on-line high-volume operation.
